An anesthesiologist is a physician with an additional three to five years of specialty training in anesthesiology. Anesthesiologists are involved in intensive care, cardiac resuscitation, respiratory therapy, and pain treatment. The primary role of the anesthesiologist is to care for the patient before, during, and after surgery.
